The IXCP10M90S is a high-voltage, switchable current-regulator packaged in a TO-220-3 (TO-220AB) case. It is designed to act as an on/off current source rather than a simple resistor, providing a controlled plateau current over a wide VAK range. The device is tailored for low-current, high-voltage roles where a steady current is required while the voltage across the device can swing to hundreds of volts.

Internally the device exhibits a characteristic internal resistance that sets its bias behavior and a plateau current that can be shaped by an external series resistor. Thermal design is important: the TO-220 package allows mounting to a heatsink and the device supports significant case dissipation when properly cooled, enabling continuous operation in demanding high-voltage circuits.

Control of the regulator is achieved through the gate terminal (G), which enables on/off behavior and modulation of the plateau current.
