The ISO203 LASER Receiver 900 nm is a compact optical receiver module designed to detect laser light specifically around the 900 nm wavelength range. It functions as a sensitive photodetector that responds when a laser beam is aligned with its receiving surface. The device is often used in simple emitter–receiver setups where a matching infrared laser (around 900 nm) is positioned to shine directly toward the receiver. When the laser beam is uninterrupted and strikes the ISO203 sensor, the module outputs a detectable electrical signal that can be read by a microcontroller or other electronic interface.

Unlike broad-spectrum light sensors like LDRs (light-dependent resistors), the ISO203 “laser receiver” is far more sensitive to a focused optical signal in the near-infrared range and is intended for use with direct laser beams rather than ambient light. It operates at low voltage (commonly ZKEEP0Z) and provides a digital or logic-level output that changes state when the laser is detected. In many DIY and educational projects, this module is paired with simple microcontrollers (Arduino or ESP32) to build laser tripwires, security alarms, or beam-interruption systems.

ISO203 laser receiver modules are very affordable and often sold on small PCBs with three pins: power, ground, and output. They are deployed in indoor environments where external light interference is limited. While not as precise or calibrated as industrial photodiodes or scientific sensors, their simplicity and ease of integration make them popular for hobby robotics, basic optical communication projects, and light-based detection circuits.
